Anybody out there know where I can find jicama? One thing about this business: you have to enjoy shopping. Today Paul and I went to three different grocery stores in search of various ingredients. I really don't mind because four months ago I couldn't have walked into one. All better!
Lucky for my guests we tell them where to find the ingredients and who has the best quality or price. Like....red and yellow peppers, I passed them up at the first store and paid half the price at the next store. And, who has the most flavorful cilantro. That kind of stuff is important!
Along with the food stuff we also bought a great new kitchen sink faucet. Now that is worth getting excited about! It's quite shiny and curves up like a swans neck, just right for filling a pasta pot.
Next, garden shopping! Picked up a few more basil plants. Can't ever have too much to go along with those tomotoes Paul is growing. Then, a couple of gorgeous geraniums for the outdoor dining area. Last, was an interesting hanging plant from Africa for the upstairs guest room. I'm a freak with color, it has to grab your attention against the wall color.
My dad came for supper. I tried to cook some favorite foods for him, he wasn't having the best day and didn't have a great appetite. He did perk up when I made him some homemade vanilla pudding. Isn't it interesting how we pass on love through the food we make for someone.
