Last week my daughter, Heather, and I slept in a tent at night and rode our bicycles around our beautiful state along with 2500 other cyclists. This was my eighth year and Heather's second. This year was different because we both were more involved. Heather was one of their photographers and I was honored to be the song contest master of ceremonies.
It was an epic event! Each evening there was entertainment as we moved from town to town. Ever since my first trip the whole think kind of reminds me of gypsies, being transient, colorful and fun-loving. For me, it is totally out of the norm - just focusing on weather, your bike running good, and your body parts. Oh, my aching body parts, especially the day we rode 59 miles!
I'm definitely shopping for a new bike seat.
The people on the ride are awesome. No complaining, just happy riders for the most part. The whole event is extremely well organized. It is already a fond memory.
