They came for many reasons: a class reunion, visiting family, a getaway from fast-paced work, a retreat to contemplate life-changing events and just to "be" while watching the birds and enjoying the colorful flowers on our large porch.
Whatever the reason, they sure came! We just had the busiest two weeks in our 2 1/2 years of B&B business. It was awesome!
Due to demand, we just opened our third B&B room. This is how it happened:
The week before, a lovely lady just drove up to inquire about rooms. I never met her before, but she was planning for her family reunion nearby. We only had one more room available. She said "That's such a shame, this place would be perfect my family, but I need two rooms."
I thought hard and fast. At that point I made a commitment - I told her it was time I expanded and I would have two rooms available. She looked surprised, and was delighted. I surprised myself.
That next week my brain was busting. There was thorough cleaning and clearing, shopping for a new bed, spray painting wicker furniture, buying new bedding and then arranging pictures on the walls. The cherry furniture found a new home at my daughter's. The room needed a "new feel." It was fun having the opportunity to be creative. I woke up the morning before our guests were to arrive and thought of a name for this room - it is the Cottage Room. Yes, that was what it felt like.
Now we have the Garden Room, Vineyard Room and the Cottage Room. All is well.
