Triathlon Ahead?

It's been a couple weeks since I sent in my entry for CNN's Fit Nation 2014 team.  Six people will be selected to prepare for the Malibu Beach Triathlon in September with Dr. Sanja Gupta.
Thanks to all of you that went to the site and left a message for me.  This helps CNN with the selection process.  If you didn't get a chance to sign in yet please just go to this link.  They will ask you to sign in first, it just takes a moment.
Meanwhile - I've prioritized some important initial changes on the road to being "The Best I Can Be," (not perfect, just the best for me).
1. Create a great place to workout.  For me it is my basement.  It's handy, bad roads don't keep me away.  The stationary bike came down from the bedroom.  The wine rack now holds free weights. (No, I didn't drink it empty). For variety I walk at Spire in Geneva for just a buck or hike on our farm.

2. Adjust nutrition intake.  Us dietitians don't like to use the dirty word "diet".  My changes are - more salads, beverages without calories and skip the desserts (except a small piece of my dad's 92nd birthday cake this weekend!)  Too many people make it so complicated - keep life simple.

3. Go to bed!  Lack of sleep is one of our major agers.  How many sappy Hallmark stories do I need?  (I do love those this time of year).
Crazy, even if I don't make the CNN Fit Nation team it's already a win-win situation - better rested, better energy, improved flexibility.  I can even do the hula - hoop.  Seriously - watch yourself in the mirror, it takes alot of movement!  Never know when you'll need that skill.
Stay tuned - team announcement coming soon.
